Isolated Incidents
Exhibition, Ards Art Centre Newtownards Co, Down, September 2001
The images were taken on a day´s walk at Murlough beach Co, Down. The frequent walks I have taken to this beach make it and its walkways familiar to me. What alarms me most about this coastal area are the dramatic changes in appearance which occur daily. Caused by a combination of human and natural elements, the sand dunes are rapidly declining. Yet, with the shifting sands comes a revelation in the form of exposed objects. The scenes I have captured exist only as long as the next turning tide or swirling wind; when their character and formation would be changed.
